Senior Financial Analyst
Purpose of the Role


Driving for further harmonization and standardization across business divisions and regions. The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible to provide meaningful decision support to the business. The Senior Financial Analyst is part of the Center of Excellence. Functional Controlling is responsible for in-depth analysis and reconciliations across all functions and businesses, support to Business Partners (budgeting / forecasting /special requests / ad-hoc analysis) and as well driving the continuous improvement of all related processes.

Key Activities

  • Conduct performance assessment of defined journals, including non- financial KPIs
  • Prepare forecasts of journal P&Ls, and provide recommendations
  • Define parameters and assumptions for modelling the (Journal) performance review
  • Advise on risks and opportunities on monetization of journal acquisitions
  • Interact with FP&A Teams (Financial Business Partners / Functional Controlling / Management Reporting) and Business

Responsibilities

  • Act as the financial analyst, reviewing and advising on journal performance and challenging the business in decision-making
  • Run the review and forecasting process
  • Liaise with stakeholders to retain the information for providing a solid advice
  • Provide meaningful decision support based on services and analytics from Centers of Excellence, both financial and non-financial
  • Identify and lead continuous improvement initiatives in the journal performance review process

Experience & Qualifications

  • Degree in Finance or related field and/or comparable qualification (e.g. Certified Chartered Accountant or Registered Controller)
  • Demonstrated ability to work with cross-functional teams in a complex, changing environment to deliver value-added results to the organization
  • Knowledge of the (journal) publishing industry highly preferable
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate ideas
  • 5+ years of experience in Controlling
  • Depth and breadth of technical finance knowledge
  • Business case and financial modelling skills
  • Demonstrated ability of SAP finance/controlling system environment as well as excellent Excel and Analysis for Office skills
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken)
