Job Description

Assistant Management Accountant

This is a key full-time role in the Finance team for an Assistant Management Accountant on a 12 month fixed term contract. We are looking for someone who can quickly understand our clients business processes and take charge of their transactional accounting and month end closing process in a calm, diligent and highly effective manner within a high end retailer based in West London.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparing monthly accounts to Trial Balance within a strict time frame
  • Preparing and posting all journals relating to accruals, prepayments, fixed assets, intangible assets, accrued income, deferred income, payroll, intercompany recharges for four companies
  • Updating and maintenance of tangible and intangible asset schedules
  • Reconciling all balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis including intercompany loans and trading balances
  • Timely Bank reconciliations in multi currencies for all entities
  • Provide regular updates on bank balances and recommend currency transfers if required
  • Responsible for Petty Cash and Petty Cash reconciliation
  • Setting up of supplier and contractor payments for bi-monthly payment runs
  • Provide information for statutory and other business audits and reviews
  • Assist with bi-annual film maker royalty statements
  • Ad-hoc analysis as required by the Finance Director and Finance Manager
  • Monitoring of purchase orders, travel approvals and spend

  • Confidence to work with and support colleagues across the business, up to the CEO
  • Problem solving and pro-active in using initiative
  • Confidence to recommend process improvements
  • Sage finance and multi-currency transactions experience
  • Highly proficient in Excel
  • Thrive in a busy and energetic environment
  • We're a small business so be prepared and willing to jump in and help with non-financial activity as needed

Education and Experience

  • Two years minimum accounting experience
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Month-end closing experience
  • Sage or other accounting software experience
  • Part qualified ACCA or CIMA
  • Educated to Degree standard
