Job Description


Key areas of responsibility will be:

Strategy - define the technical architecture that will enable the business plan and strategic priorities over the next 3-5 years.

 Map out the as-is landscape and transition states to reach the target across technical and business capabilities and functional dimensions.

 Break down strategy in short-, medium- and long-term.

 Understand where we need to create value and create an architecture that enables increasing revenue, reducing costs and unlocking business value.

 Define guidance, frameworks, methods and tools within which each team will work, applied globally.


Technical Assurance - assure that all technical designs and solutions developed across IT are viable and fit-for-purpose, and support the wider business strategy.

 Setup and run the technical design authority.

 Assure that all functional designs are fit for purpose, strategically aligned and best practice. Challenge and support functional leads.

 Procure a simple, scalable, cloud-based architecture documentation and illustration and audit tool.

 Audit the technical landscape, and document the architecture using the selected tool.


Collaboration and Relationships - work with the CIO, the IT team and the wider business to build a seamless and well-integrated IT system, aligned with our business needs, quality standards and service commitments.

 Act as a consultant in business process and requirements analysis through to user-ready solutions. Turn complex ideas into simple diagrams at various levels of detail.



 Have the commercial savvy to translate business requirements into technology language. Be able to build a business case and articulate value creation levers.

 Keep a regular line of communication and alignment to other sub-functions of IT, and to other relevant stakeholders, e.g. Digital, functions. Work in a "handshake" with all IT Heads to deliver smoothly on all initiatives.

 Operate with a large degree of ownership and a self-reliant mindset but also decide how and when to involve regional and global leadership.

 Become a trusted thought partner to CIO providing input and challenge to key decisions.

 Oscillate between audiences across our business at all levels including the PE investor, and effectively collaborate with Digital, the CIO and the rest of the business.

 Demonstrate credibility and a straightforward and professional communication at all times. Keep a clear line of communication and be transparent and open about challenges and successes.

 Display strong gravitas to work globally across IT, the business and to manage disparate personalities to achieve desired results.

 Be versed in local data and information regimes and policies

 Build an architecture 'community' covering both solution and technical architecture.


Leadership - build, coach and lead functional architects that consistently demonstrate values and behaviors, while building a forum for best practice sharing around architecture standards.

 Support IT heads attracting and hiring best talent as respective functional architects.

 Develop functional architects' skills and relationship building and management skills, nurturing a mindset of partnering with the business.


Innovation and Digital - partner with Digital on how technology can be used to drive growth, increase revenues and deliver an excellent co-worker and customer journey.

 Proactively scan the market for innovative solutions and opportunities that will drive growth, improve customer and co-worker experience and reduce costs.

 Partner with Digital to define how we can use technology to help customers on their multi-channel journey.
