Job Description

Monthly

Assist the Financial control team to ensure timely completion of the Group monthly reporting of balance sheet in-line with agreed deadlines:

  • Preparation of monthly journals including monthly PO accruals
  • Ownership and preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations including liaising with Commercial Finance to review and challenge variance analysis
  • Assist with the preparation of the monthly balance sheet reports
  • Year-end

Assist in the preparation of the Group and Subsidiary audit including:

  • External audit queries
  • Prepare information pack for the delivery of other required audits
  • Assist with the preparation of Trust accounts and delivery of the respective audits
  • Assist with Year-end roll forward

Other

  • Complete ONS returns and ensure on time filling
  • Ad hoc analysis and support to Senior Financial Accounting Manager as required
  • Insurance/Treasury

Assist in the day to day management of the group insurance programme including:

  • Input to the annual renewals process across all policies
  • Working directly with our insurance brokers; and
  • Responding to business insurance queries
  • Cover for the Treasury function as and when required

Financial Accounting Systems

  • Set up new GL codes to the chart of accounts
  • Act as a super user for the accounting system
  • VAT
  • Preparation of the Quarterly VAT file for review by the Tax manager
  • Preparation of the quarterly EC Sales list
  • Build and manage the relationship with key stakeholders including commercial finance, financial operations, tax, IT, external audit, insurance brokers etc.

Change:

  • Critically assess processes and lead improvement changes where appropriate
  • Executes additional tasks as required in order to meet Group changing priorities. The above list of job duties is not exclusive or exhaustive and the post holder will be required to undertake such tasks as may reasonably be expected within the scope and grading of the post.

  • Part/Newly Qualified accountant
  • VAT experience
  • Working knowledge of financial accounting standards
  • Building and managing strong relationships both internally and with external organisations
  • Experience of leading change including identifying improvements in processes and systems and challenging
  • the status quo
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to disseminate technical accounting information clearly and concisely to a variety of stakeholders
  • Ability to cope under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Understanding of the broader impact of decisions and ensuring all stakeholders are appropriately engaged
  • Knowledge of controls testing/auditing
  • Experience in a relatable industry or sector
  • Experience with management of financial accounting
  • Systems (Proactis, Great Plains, Management Reporter)
