Job Description

The Consultancy Group are currently recruiting for a Management Accountant for a large publishing company based in Central London. They are looking for someone that has ambition and a real drive to be a part of a growing business.

This role will work closely with the Head of Business Reporting, FP&A Manager, senior management and other stakeholders to provide clear variance analysis and aid in the decision-making process.

Key tasks/job specification

  • Develop a strong and in-depth understanding of all areas of Journals and Events products including international complexities
  • Preparation and analytical review of Journal and Event product accounting with reporting to stakeholders as required
  • Quarterly forecasting and annual budgeting for Journal and Event products
  • Balance Sheet reconciliations (e.g. accruals/prepayments/deferrals)
  • Lead regular meetings with stakeholders to discuss variances, challenge and make recommendations to ensure budgets are controlled effectively
  • Preparation of year end financials and assisting in the audit process, liaise with auditors as required
  • Responsibility for some cross-group accruals and analysis
  • Actively support the transition to new financial systems
  • Ad hoc project work and providing support to the Finance team and the business as required.

Knowledge, experience and skills:

  • Qualified accountant - ACA / CIMA / ACCA
  • Proven ability to influence and manage multiple stakeholders to achieve common goals
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of management and financial accounting
  • Exposure to financial reporting tools
  • Computer literate with excellent Excel knowledge
  • Ability to work to tight operating deadlines when required
